Our communities have many events to offer this weekend! 

On Saturday, May 13, we will be at the Mennonite Heritage Village Museum (MHV) for their Manitoba 153rd Birthday Celebration. It is a free-admission event packed with many activities. 

Here are some scheduled events: 

10 AM - Planting Pansies for Mom and children’s activities in the Auditorium  

10:30 AM - Ox Cart Stories near the Semlin with Terry and Patty Doerksen 

11 AM – Flag Raising Ceremony and Music and Greetings in the Pavilion 

11:30 – Free Birthday Cake for Everyone 

12 PM to 4 PM – Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides 

Their newest exhibit, The Russlander, will be open to the public. For those who enjoy making critter friends, you can visit the new farm animals. Finally, the General Store has been renovated, so pick up some old-fashioned candy.

South East Artist Show & Sale – Saturday, May 13 

In association with the Steinbach Arts Council (SAC), the South East Artists will be at the Clearspring Mall displaying and selling original pieces. Artworks range from oils, acrylics, watercolours, cards and more. Meet the artists and check out what they have to offer. 

Kleefeld Community Spring Clean-Up Event – Saturday, May 13 

It’s time for spring cleaning in Kleefeld. Community members are encouraged to meet at Kleefeld Park at 10 AM to collect gloves and bags. Volunteers can enjoy free ice cream back at the park at noon. 

Ste. Anne Spring Clean-Up Event – Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 

For the community of Ste. Anne, don’t worry, there’s also a clean-up event for you too. Individuals and groups can register with the RM office in Ste. Anne and inform them of which area you would like to clean up. They will hand out garbage bags, and they ask that filled bags be placed along the road and end of driveways. On Sunday, May 14, volunteers are invited to a “Thank You” barbeque lunch at the Municipal Public Works yard from 11 AM to 1 PM. Registered names will also be entered in a draw for prizes. 

Mother’s Day Tea at the Museum – Saturday, May 13 

The Richer Dawson Trail Museum is celebrating Mother’s Day with tea from 11 AM to 3 PM. There will be entertainment, food and more. Seating is limited. 

Ste. Anne Arena Fundraiser – Saturday, May 13 

A $20,000 Mega Bingo Fundraiser is happening at the Ste. Anne Arena. Doors open at 10:30 AM, early birds start at 12:30, and regular bingo kicks off at 1 PM. 100% of profits will go towards arena upgrades and to replace the ice plant, which costs $306,000. Advanced tickets are now available for purchase. 

Richer High School Rodeo – Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 

Junior and high school rodeo competitors across Manitoba and beyond will be battling at Dawson Trail Park. The festivities kick off on Saturday at 10 AM and Sunday at 9 AM. 

Mother’s Day Lunch Buffet – Sunday, May 14 

Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Livery Barn Restaurant located at the Mennonite Heritage Village Museum (MHV). A Mennonite feast will be served from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Adult tickets are $24.95, and seniors aged 65 and up are $19.95. For kids aged four to ten, tickets are $12.95 and three and under eat for free.
