On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, people gathered in Steinbach for Remembrance Day.

Audrey Harder, President of the Steinbach Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, says they made sure to invite children to participate in the service which was held Friday morning at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre.

She says we need to make sure that the younger generation understands the value in making time to honour our veterans and understand the cost of the peace we enjoy today.

Harder recalls her own experience as a child, learning about WWI and WWII. She credits her parents and her schools for making sure she understood the ultimate sacrifices that were made so that we can live in peace.

She appreciates the many young community members who willingly participated in the service.
