Film crews are busy in Steinbach, capturing scenes for a Hallmark movie.

It made for a special experience at Mennonite Heritage Village, when they turned the rhubarb patch into a pumpkin patch.

Elise Plessis is the Assistant Coordinator for private events at the museum.

“This is exciting to have the film crew here,” she says.

With school groups still coming to the museum each day for field trips, and getting ready for private bookings like a wedding, Plessis says it made for a busy and fun day.

“And the school groups will be able to see them, so they’ll have a little bit of fun and entertainment as they drive past the set.”

Students were getting wagon rides through the village while the filming took place.

Hallmark spent the day on Sunday filming a few scenes at Chino's Bistro.

Owner Dorinda Penner says it was a great experience.

“I’m pretty proud to be a Manitoban and someone from Steinbach and of the fact that the film industry is recognizing Manitoba as a great place to film movies,” she says. “For a company like Hallmark to say let's film movies in Steinbach, in Manitoba and in Canada, I think that's wonderful, and I think it's a great opportunity for our for our city.”

Today's locations include Henry Place and BIGG Smoak BBQ Smokehouse and Grill.
