Niverville Force SC's home opener scheduled for Monday night was postponed. Force SC has two wins, one loss and one tie in the Manitoba Major Soccer League's 1st Division and will host the Hanover Kickers on Sunday. 


The Canadian women's soccer team, preparing to defend its Olympic gold medal in Paris this July, plays a friendly against Mexico tonight in Toronto. Canada has until July 3rd to name an 18-player roster plus four alternates. Coach Bev Priestman expects to announce her roster by the end of June. Canada defeated Mexico 2-0 on Saturday in Montreal.


Canada's national men's volleyball team, which includes Steinbach's Eric Loeppky, begins Week 2 of the Volleyball Nations League schedule tonight in Ottawa with a match against ninth-ranked Cuba. Canada, ranked 12th, takes a 2-2 record into the week with matches also scheduled against Argentina, Serbia and the United States. Canada will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes grabbed an early 6-0 lead and beat the Kane County Cougars 7-2 Monday night at Blue Cross Park. Andy Armstrong's two-run single highlighted Winnipeg's three-run third inning. Joey Matulovich won for the third time in as many starts, allowing two unearned runs on four hits over six innings of work. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Justin Courtney retired all six batters he faced, and Nick Trogrlic-Iverson bent but did not break in the ninth, getting Jared Cushing to ground out with the bases loaded to end the ballgame.

The Grey Owl, one of our province's most popular golf tournaments, takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Clear Lake golf course. Grey Owl president Tyler Thompson will join Clayton Dreger of Off the Tee which airs Tuesdays at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
