Operation Red Nose is picking up steam as Christmas draws near and volunteer Jugette Vallée tells us why she has joined the Steinbach-La Broquerie team.

“My whole family was involved, so I figured why not spend time with family while volunteering?”

Vallée grew up in St. Labre and went to school in La Broquerie.

She says this is an easy and meaningful way to help others during the holidays.

“You help out people just by giving them rides and you get to talk to them,” Vallée says. “This past weekend, I got to see a friend that I hadn't seen in... I don't know how many years, and we got to chat while giving them their ride home.”

When someone calls for a ride, the team is sent to their location and two volunteers drive the person and their guests home in their vehicle while the third member of the team will follow in the team escort vehicle.

They operate every Friday and Saturday until the end of December with their busiest night being New Year's Eve. Click here for volunteer information.

It’s a free service with donations accepted in support of École Saint-Joachim.
