Both Operation Red Nose Steinbach/La Broquerie and Red Nose St. Malo are coming off a busy second weekend.

Jo-Anne Dalton of Operation Red Nose Steinbach/La Broquerie says there was quite an uptick in usage from the opening weekend. "We had lots of rides given. Friday was very busy, so that's awesome. We had 20 rides on Friday and a total of 29 rides over the weekend. 58 people used the service over the weekend."

Dalton says that donation-wise it was also a success. "We had $680 raised and over 1000 km driven."

Charmaine Gosselin from Operation Red Nose St. Malo was also pleased with the numbers. "We gave 27 rides this weekend. It was a super big jump from last weekend. However, we could have given even more rides, so people don't need to be scared to call us. Our volunteers could have covered double those rides."

Gosselin says the website is a great place to find a map of the areas they cover. "Essentially, anywhere between Highway 75 and 59 south of the perimeter is an area we'll service.

Donations-wise, it was also a big weekend. "We did really well, we had just under $1000 over the weekend and we're so pumped when we raise rise donations because this year we're giving them back to non-profits of the volunteer's choice. This year, the volunteers have chosen programs like minor hockey or minor baseball, the breakfast program at the school in St. Malo. People are picking organizations that impact youth in our communities."

Both Operation Red Nose Steinbach/ La Broquerie and Red Nose St. Malo are looking for volunteers. Groups, couples, friends, family or co-workers.
