RCMP in our province will begin random check stops on Monday as part of their holiday check stop program.

The program will focus on high risk drivers who choose to drink and drive or drive without seatbelts.  Penalties for drunk driving include a minimum one year driver license suspension and a $600.00 fine.  Penalties for not buckling up include a $247.00 fine and the loss of 2 merits.
The holiday check stop program will end January 3rd.
