La Broquerie Council has thrown its unanimous approval behind a new 55 + development in the middle of their LUD.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says his Council believes the development will facilitate growth in their community. “There is always a need for 55+ housing and, from what I understand, there are already people on the waiting list.”

Once aging residents become less able to take care of their homes and properties, Weiss says this build will give them more opportunity to stay in their community rather than moving elsewhere to find comfortable housing.

The 7 building, 28 unit complex will be built along a private drive stemming off of Simard Street. The developer, TNT Properties, has built similar complexes in Ste. Anne, Beausejour, and Tyndall, all of which have been well-received. La Broqueirie's complex will consist of a series of duplexes, 4-plexes, each with their own entrance and garage.

“We’re very excited to see the full plan and we are very excited to see it take shape over the next while,” comments the reeve.
