You’ve been hearing a lot about the 50-50 for Kids campaign which is helping to raise funds to support Safe Families Canada Steinbach, and maybe you’re wondering how to access their supports. 

Chapter Director Sue Doerksen says it is rather easy, just give them a call at 431-814-5833 and answer a few questions. 

“What is the situation? What’s the needs? The ages of your kids. Do they have any extra concerns? And then we really want to get to the root of ‘what is the need right now?’ What is the crisis, first of all?” 

Doerksen says that after determining what the crisis is, they are better able to help set goals and create a plan for support.

Family Placement Coordinator Kelly Decru says they help families who are in a variety of crisis situations. 

“We have helped moms who have left domestic violence situations and are getting started up again. We have helped with challenging parenting situations, maybe there’s a child with exceptional needs or situations with a difficult adoption. We help with medical or mental health crises. We’ve had parents that have gone into substance abuse treatments as well where we have stepped in and helped.”

As more people purchase the $5 tickets, the pot grows. There is now well over $21,000 and this amount will continue to climb right until the last minute. 

There is still time to show your support for the families who are being helped through Safe Families Canada Steinbach. 

Purchase your 50-50 for Kids tickets today and you’ll be entered into the Grand Prize Draw which takes place at 10am on Wednesday, Oct. 4th.
