The minister of the new Infrastructure and Transportation Department wants more federal money for Manitoba's roads. Ron Lemieux says many people compare our highways to those in North Dakota, complaining our roads are a disgrace yet south of the border it's smooth sailing.  Lemieux says his government has found the American government collects $500-million in gas taxes from North Dakota but gives $885-million back to the state for road improvements.  In the same time period, our federal government collected $772-million from Manitoba but only returned $36-million for roads.  Lemieux is optimistic we'll see changes to those numbers in the near future.
