The Steinbach Fire Department was extra busy last weekend, volunteering their time to help make our roads safer. 

Chief Kel Toews says his department supports Operation Red Nose and they had no trouble getting a group of fire fighters to volunteer with the organization that provides free rides during weekends over the holidays. 

He encourages people to contact Operation Red Nose for safe rides home, even if you have not consumed alcohol. 

Holiday celebrations often run late, and that can be enough for fatigue to set in. 

“We see first-hand what drinking and driving or tired driving, what that does and what some of the tragic effects of that are,” says Toews. 

Operation Red Nose Steinbach-La Broquerie had 34 volunteers last weekend, and they provided 35 safe rides. 

This service offers rides home for you and your vehicle, free of charge. Donations are accepted
