Steinbach motorists are getting flashbacks to last summer as pylons go back up on Brandt Street.

However, this time traffic is being restricted to facilitate sidewalk construction not underground water and sewer work.

As we reported over the weekend, part of Steinbach's 2022 capital works plan includes a sidewalk along the west side of Brandt.

City Engineer Aaron Rach notes "We've got a Brandt Street sidewalk on the west side, in between Woodhaven Avenue and First Street. That is going to be starting this week and should be completed in mid-July. That one, we will see the curb lane being closed for the duration of the project."

Rach says that timeline is dependant on both weather and the availability of construction materials.
