Five cultures are being featured next week during a week-long event in Steinbach.
Carla Walker says the Pat Porter Active Living Centre is excited to partner with Eastman Immigrant Services and to host Culturama on February 5th to the 9th, celebrating some of the many cultures in our community.
“Our Steinbach community is full of different and wonderful cultures. And I think it's so important for us to be able to learn about all those different cultures and to embrace them and build bridges between each of the cultures.”
Feb 5: Ukrainian
Feb 6: Mexican
Feb 7: Mennonite
Feb 8: Filipino
Feb 9: India
“Each evening will get a bit of a taste of the culture and some entertainment and learn a bit about each culture,” Walker explains.
The Pat Porter Active Living Centre held Culture Days last year in March, celebrating Métis, Ukrainian, and Filipino cultures. It was a huge success which led to quick decisions about expanding the event.
