A young girl has been in a medically induced coma since being seriously injured on Monday morning in Steinbach.

The girl attends Stonehouse Covenant Church and they have started a GoFundMe page for the family.

Shannon Johnson Friesen, Pastor of Stonehouse Covenant Church, says the girl’s vital are stable, but there are significant complications within her pelvic region and her lower extremities.

“She had surgery again yesterday, there have been some good signs that are starting to happen, but there are further surgeries to come,” she says. “We're asking for people who pray to pray for miracles for this little girl's body. There's been a lot of damage, and then there's going to be long term rehabilitation for her.”

She says the girl has been in the medically induced coma this entire time, which both Johnson Friesen and the family believe to be a blessing.

"We believe that she will really not have any memory of the trauma which is good,” she says. “She's sleeping is what we're saying to her siblings and sleeping peacefully. She had no injuries to her head or her chest area or her spine, but her lower half is definitely needing some more attention obviously.”

Johnson Friesen says they recently increased the GoFundMe goal to $20,000.

“Just to give this family more capacity to cover their expenses for a longer period of time. It's going to go right towards providing for their acute and their long term needs as they care for all of their children in this difficult time.”

There has been an incredible team of people from the community who are working together on behalf of this family.

She says people are providing support in so many essential and practical ways.

“It has really been an incredible thing to witness this team of people coming around them to support them, and honestly from so many sectors in our community as well. I just want to say thank you to every single person that is somehow contributing to helping in this situation.”

People have been so supportive that even Johnson Friesen herself has gotten support.

“I was telling the older daughter when they were staying at our place because people were bringing us meals, ‘as we're supporting you, other people are supporting us’ and we just felt so cared for. It's really incredible to witness and experience.”

If you would like to donate to the family, you can do so through the Myran Family Fundraiser on GoFundMe

“This little girl is such a bright light. She's just an incredible little person.”
