A new law will impact the firefighting budget in the RM of La Broquerie.
Reeve Marielle Wiebe says safety legislation coming into effect in February requires all rescue vehicles to have seatbelts.
This means they may have to replace one piece of equipment. The department also requires beepers for all personel entering smoke filled buildings. They have some but need to buy more at a possible cost of $500.00 each. Wiebe says the changes are good because they improve the safety of their volunteers but do impact their bottom line. Council is aware of the costs and will have to work them into this year's budget.
