The driver involved in a fatal crash in October near Ste. Anne will be appearing in Steinbach Court in March where he will face numerous charges.

On the evening of Friday, October 14th, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 12 and Greenland Road. Ste. Anne Fire Chief Bob Saindon says when they arrived on scene, it was determined that two adults had died in the crash and that a surviving passenger needed to be extricated. 

As a result, a female adult was transported to hospital in Winnipeg in serious condition. Saindon said at the time that the driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital for observation. 

Upon further investigation, RCMP determined that at approximately 10:10 pm, a southbound car collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was crossing the highway. 

The driver of the SUV, a 71-year-old male and front passenger, a 69-year-old female, both from the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne, were pronounced dead at the scene. The rear passenger, a 47-year-old female from Saskatchewan, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the car and sole occupant, a 19-year-old male from Tyndall, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

According to RCMP, the male driver from Tyndall will be appearing in Steinbach Court on March 16th where he will face numerous charges including two counts of criminal negligence causing death, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

RCMP are not yet able to release the name of the teenage driver.
