This year, Steinbach is turning 150 years old, and Summer in the City will feature a birthday party to mark the occasion.

“And we’re just hoping to really highlight Steinbach and the years in how it has changed and grown and just what it’s become now as a city,” says Carla Campbell, Festival Coordinator.

Campbell says they are still working out the details of what the birthday celebration will all include.

She is hoping for a huge cake and some interesting information on Steinbach's history.

Campbell notes the city has really changed since it was first established as a Mennonite community.

“There are so many different cultures that make up Steinbach today and of course being highlighted on the culture stage. I just think it's really neat that that we can celebrate the diversity of it.”

Although she can’t share the details of the birthday celebration, Campbell is confident there will soon be an announcement regarding the headlining bands for the summer festival.

Right now, Campbell can only say she is pumped about the bands for the Country Night on Friday, June 14th and the Rock Night on Saturday, June 15th.
