Next year's budget for the Hanover School Division was passed this week with an increase of 10%.
Finance Chair Marilyn Plett says the increase of 2.1 mills will add $95 to the tax bill of a $100,000 home.  It leaves the division with a surplus of only 2.1% of its budget.  She explains while there were public concerns about taxes going up, the board needed to respond to continued growth in the division.  At least half of the new spending is a direct result of that growth.
