Tamarack gymnastics is celebrating many talented athletes who placed well on big stages across the country this spring.
Alix Martens, women’s head coach and co-director, says there were a number of podium finishes at provincials and at the Western Canadian Championship.

Martens notes a few athletes recently returned from a competition in Whistler, BC.
“They did really well,” she reports. “We had a couple of top place finishes there as well and it was a great experience for them. Some of them had never been outside our province before, so being on an airplane, just a whole fun, team bonding experience for the coaches and athletes.”

Tamarack Gymnastics is sending two athletes to the world cup this week in Portugal.
Owner/director Amanda Pierson, head coach of trampoline and tumble, is excited for Lane Peters and Declyn Friesen.
“This is their first International so, we’re very excited,” says Pierson. “They just had a phenomenal Canadian championship where they did better than I thought they were going to do, so we're very excited for this one.”

Athletes will get a summer break before returning to their regular training routine in fall.
“I know a few of them are a little disappointed that the season’s ending now at the end of June. They have that little extra fire in them right now and they're like, “Oh, but the season’s ending.” So hopefully we can carry that forward to next year.”
