Manitoba First Nations Police Service is investigating a suspicious death on Roseau River First Nation.

The Police Service says that on Sunday at approximately 8:30 am, Roseau River members received a report of a man lying on the ground in a backyard in the community.

Officers along with EMS responded to the scene. 

Police say a 39-year-old male was transported to De Salaberry District Hospital in St. Pierre where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the death remains under investigation as police await the results of an autopsy.

The Roseau River detachment continues to investigate.
