One person is in police custody following a vandalism spree early Thursday morning.
At 1:11 am, Steinbach RCMP received multiple calls about windows being broken at a residence along Elm Avenue in the city. There were also reports of yelling outside a residence.
Police immediately attended and were directed to a back alley where the suspect was seen running. Eventually, police were able to locate and arrest the suspect.
Police say the suspect had allegedly assaulted a male with a weapon, broke several windows of a residence along Elm Avenue, as well as the back window of a vehicle parked on the street.
Thirty-two-year-old Kevin Dennis Jacob Friesen of Steinbach has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats against a person, resisting/ obstructing a peace officer, two counts of mischief over $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order.
The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in provincial court in Winnipeg.
