The Carillon Sultans unbeaten playoff run continued on Tuesday night at Whittier Park in Winnipeg. Brett Hiebert went the distance scattering eight hits as Carillon blanked the defending Manitoba Junior Baseball League champion St. Boniface Legionaires 2-0 in game one of their best-of-five semifinal. The Sultans scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth. Tim Thiessen tripled home Mike Gershman with Carillon's first run of the ball game. Thiessen then scored on Myles Hiebert's sacrifice fly. The Sultans are 4-0 in the post-season. Game two goes Wednesday night at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach with game three scheduled for Friday back in Winnipeg.
