It took a bit of digging but council for the R.M. of Ste. Anne has learned it will receive $428,131 from the province for infrastructure.

Administration told council members the one-time provincial funding was announced differently than usual and required a bit of time to figure out the details of this grant.

Back in February, the province had announced that all municipalities will receive a minimum 24 per cent increase in 2023 to address inflationary impacts.

Council was told to expect the funding to reach them by the end of this month, or shortly after.

The funding was calculated per capita, and council for the R.M. of Ste. Anne has decided that some of their unexpected funding should go toward the budget for the Local Urban District of Richer.

“Our reserves are significantly decreased because we have done so much over the last few years,” says Deputy Reeve Randy Eros.

The municipality will put this unexpected funding into reserves.
