A large Steinbach trucking company has been acquired by a larger trucking company from Quebec.

On Monday afternoon, it was first announced that Penner International and their fleet of more than 300 vehicles was obtained by a company called C.A.T. Global Incorporated based out of Coteau-du-Lac Quebec.

It seems the two businesses have a lot in common. In a Facebook post welcoming their newest member, C.A.T. indicates that Penner was a “natural fit” being a third-generation family-run business that was similar in size, customer base, and culture.

“This strategic acquisition further demonstrates C.A.T.’s commitment to continue to develop our business in Western Canada,” the post continues.

The full implications of this shift for the Steinbach company remain somewhat unclear at this time, but C.A.T. says they are “eager to welcome” Penner International and are “looking forward to a bright future together.”
