A new fundraiser by the Friends Of The Mennonite Heritage Village was a success.
The first annual Heritage Walk was held Sunday in Steinbach.  Chairperson Sue Barkman says participant response was tremendous with many people suggesting they do another walk next year.  In total 150 people raised over $13,000.00 during the event.  She explains this walk allowed people to slow down and appreciate their heritage in a way that many may take for granted.  MHV board member Elsie Janzen was named top fundraiser for the walk.
She says they were looking for a new fundraiser and thought this might allow people an opportunity to connect with their past.  Janzen was also excited to see how many younger people attended the event.  Next year's walk is planned for September.
