Kleefeld resident Jeff Friesen believes in the importance of quality education. With this, he decided to run as a trustee for Ward 1 of the Hanover School Division and won by acclamation.

As a father of five, two sons-in-law, one granddaughter and another grandchild on the way, he says “choosing to run for trustee of HSD wasn’t a difficult choice.”

“I’ve always had an interest in our kid's education. Now having grandkids, it’s important to build on the good foundations of the past in our schools,” Friesen said. “We must focus on true connection in the community and with the parents and students. I want all of our Hanover Schools to be a place where parents want their children to be.”

Friesen is involved in the community in many ways such as serving on a Parent Advisory Council and being a part of the Roseau River Bible Camp board. He enjoys “farming, motorsports, hunting and being with people,” and has also coached and coordinated softball in Southeast Manitoba for the past 10 years.

He joins Dallas Wiebe in representing Ward 1 on the Hanover School Division board.

The municipal and school board election is happening on Wednesday, October 26.
