Multiple highways are closed Wednesday morning after strong winds caused icy conditions late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

As of 8:37 AM, Highway 1 from Ste. Anne to Winnipeg has reopened.

The number 1 reopened from Ste Anne to Hadashville earlier in the morning.

Seine River School Division has cancelled classes and DSFM has cancelled some bus runs.

Steinbach to Blumenort is being reported as partly ice covered but good. The same can be said for La Broquerie to Steinbach.

The perimeter highway is closed due to icy winter conditions.

The closures started right before midnight on Tuesday and lasted into the Wednesday morning commute.

Highway 101 from the perimeter to Highway 15 and Highway 100 from the perimeter to Highway 15 are also closed.

RCMP reminds the public that a closed highway means travel is not allowed for any reason. There is a potential for charges under the Highway Traffic Act for a fine of $203. Also, emergency vehicles may not be able to reach you if help is needed.
