One person was taken to hospital following a single vehicle crash in Steinbach Wednesday night.

Steinbach Fire Chief Kel Toews says his crews were called out at 10:40 pm to Highway 52 on the city's eastern edge. Emergency personnel showed up to find a vehicle resting against a light standard in the median in front of Bausch Health.

According to RCMP, the driver was transported by ground ambulance to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg with undetermined injuries. The driver and sole occupant is an 18-year-old male from Blumenort.

Police say speed and alcohol/ drugs do not appear to be factors.

According to Toews, the median was closed while crews cleared the scene.

Firefighters were back at the hall shortly after 11 pm.

RCMP continue to investigate.
