There was a two-vehicle collision just after 6:30 Wednesday morning on Highway #12 at Blumenort. Assistant Steinbach Fire Chief Mike Penner describes us what happened.

"We had a pickup truck crossing east over the 311 to turn north. It failed to stop for a southbound semi. The occupant from the pickup was transported to hospital, probably for precautionary reasons. There doesn't appear to have been anything life-threatening. The semi driver, there were no injuries."

RCMP report the diver of the pickup was a 38-year-old woman from Grunthal. Officers say she is lucky to be alive, noting her vehicle was within in a few feet of being hit broadside on the driver's side door. Instead, it took a glancing hit on the front fender. They add she will be charged with proceeding when unsafe to do so.
