A combination of snow melting onto Steinbach streets and below-zero temperatures has some sections icy Monday morning.

Drivers are cautioned to slow down around intersections especially.

On highways around the southeast, Manitoba511.ca is reporting most roads are partly ice covered.

A Colorado low pushed through the province on Sunday, leaving piles of snow in parts further north, including the Parkland and Northern Manitoba. Much of western Manitoba was under a snowfall warning throughout Sunday afternoon

Further south mild temperatures and high winds pushed the system through. While snowfall amounts remained low in the southern part of the province, falling temperatures resulted in icy road conditions.

The Trans-Canada Highway's westbound lanes were closed just west of Portage la Praire for a couple of hours on Sunday evening due to a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 16. Later, the westbound lanes were closed at the Portage la Prairie bypass due to poor conditions. Both stretches of the highway have since reopened.

There is more snow in the forecast for this week.
