Reservations were up 30% this year.
The roads to our provincial parks in Manitoba were well used this summer.  Barry Bentham with Manitoba Parks says camping numbers were strong this summer and reservations were up about 30% over last year.  However he adds some of the campgrounds did see a slight drop in numbers and the thinking is that high fuel prices caused people to stay closer to home plus there were fewer U.S. visitors to Manitoba.  As for the fire bans over the summer, Bentham says the restrictions didn't seem to keep people away from the parks.  He thanks everyone for doing a great job in following the bans and making it another safe summer.
