The special postal rate for library books has been extended past January.
All the lobbying in Ottawa has paid off for the Jake Epp Library in Steinbach.  It just received word that the special postal rate for library books has been extended until 2008.  For the past year the government has been threatening to end that rate which would mean it would cost fourteen dollars to bring in a book from another library.  Right now the cost is less than a dollar.  Head librarian Loraine Trudeau is relieved things will stay as is because the inter-library loan program is popular.
