3 organizations looking for donations this summer

Some community organizations are looking for specific donations right now to support people going through a difficult time. 

Lisa Fast says Agape House is looking for cutlery sets, hair conditioner, as well as children’s pajamas, socks and toys.  

“We have the community always reaching out to see how they can support us and asking if there’s anything for donations that we’re needing.”

She says this kind of support is what really makes it possible for Agape House to continue helping abused women and their children. 

Steinbach Community Outreach is looking for items specific to hot summer weather. 

“I’m thinking of some of the really red shoulders that have been coming in, especially after Summer in the City,” says Myra Gerbrandt. “So, sunscreen would actually be an interesting item for donation. Maybe mosquito spray. Definitely things like Gatorade that we can send out with people, especially for our street friends who could use some nourishment through Gatorade. Hats and caps would be great. Those go over really well.” 

Irene Kroeker says they ran out of Gatorade to offer to guests of Steinbach Community Outreach.

Gerbrandt says they also appreciate anything food related. 

South East Helping Hands needs at least 1,500 boxes of cereal to help families through the summer months. 

Kali Loeppky just placed some cereal donations on the shelves at South East Helping Hands.

Ken Dyck says we live in a very generous region, and he is confident the necessary amount of cereal will come in. 

“The response we get from people is truly amazing. When we ask, we get. And we can’t ask for anything more than that.”
