Construction has started on rebuilding one mile of Hanover Road.

Rob Driedger is Manager of Engineering and Utilities for the Rural Municipality of Hanover. He says the stretch is from Road 30E to 31E, two miles south of Mitchell.

According to Driedger, that portion of road has been identified as needing a full reconstruction due to the amount of traffic it sees. He notes crews will be digging out two feet of base, putting in new base and regrading the road to Hanover's standards.

The work started Thursday morning and Driedger says weather pending it should be completed in about one week.

Motorists can expect some temporary disruptions. With a full excavation happening, Driedger says traffic should be prepared to take an alternate route. He asks motorists to be patient.

The work is being done by Fast Brothers of Blumenort. Driedger says the approximate cost of the project is $300,000.

With summer winding down, Driedger says this will probably be the last major capital project for 2019 in Hanover.
