A former church building in Kleefeld will slowly make its way down Provincial Road 216 Thursday as it heads to its new home in the Sarto area.

The former Holdeman Church building, currently just north of town, is being converted into a house. The move is expected to take the better part of two days due to the size of the building.

Manitoba Hydro Spokesperson Bruce Owen says hundreds of hydro customers in the Kleefeld and Sarto area will be without power for up to three hours over the course of the move.

"Because of its size, it takes a little bit of time and with that to have the route all properly marked so all traffic is made aware of it. As the building moves, power lines have to be de-energized and then raised so it can pass safely under," Owen explains.

He says residents affected will be temporarily without power for up to three hours between 12pm and 4:30pm Thursday and between 8am and 4:30 pm on Friday.

We await details from the movers as to the specific route they will be taking and if there will be any traffic detours.
