This piece of concrete pierced the vehicle's window at highway speeds (photo credit: Kathleen Dawn/Facebook). A group of people driving home from Linden along Provincial Road 210 last night are grateful to be unharmed after somebody in an oncoming car threw a concrete slab at their vehicle... at least that is the leading theory right now.

According to St. Pierre RCMP, a female passenger reported the incident last night around 10:00 PM, shortly after it happened. Police note the "large piece of concrete" shattered the rear driver’s side window. They confirm nobody was injured.

Police cannot certainly say whether the concrete was intentionally hurled at the vehicle, if it somehow became dislodged from the roadway, or if it was propelled through the car window by some other means.

Martin, who preferred to give only his first name, says he was driving that night. He describes the interaction with the approaching vehicle.

“As he pulled parallel to us, suddenly there was a loud bang, like an explosion, and all of the glass went everywhere but there was no projectile in the vehicle.”

A quick inspection of the vehicle revealed that only the window had been damaged, "It was very surreal," comments Martin, "because the window itself totally disintegrated.”

Martin, his wife, and the family friend they were riding with, turned their vehicle around to see if they could find the source of the destruction. There, on the road, they found a section of pavement weighing roughly 10 pounds that was flat on both sides. Like the RCMP, Martin is unsure how the slab came to collide with his vehicle. Seeing as the object was flat and too heavy to become airborne by a passing motorist, what makes sense to him is that it was thrown.

An RCMP investigation into the matter is ongoing.
