The mother whose actions prompted an Amber Alert on phones and radio stations across the province Wednesday evening has been charged.

Harlee Precious Wilson-Parenteau, the biological mother of a two-year-old named Theodore, left a pre-arranged, supervised visit with her son without legal authorization to do so.

Investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit looked into the background of the situation, including the legal framework, and decided to initiate the Amber Alert protocol as they believed the child could be in danger.

Later that same evening, authorities were notified that the Amber Alert was successful; the mother had turned herself in to the RCMP.

Harlee Precious Wilson-Parenteau has now been charged with “Abduction Where No Custody Order”.
