An effort is underway to unearth heritage sites in the Town of Morris that have been lost due to decades of flooding.

Spearheaded through the Morris and District Centennial Museum, members of the Morris Heritage Walking Trail committee are creating a billboard map pinpointing those historical sites in town, as well as a self-guided tour brochure featuring pictures and descriptions of the original spots.

"We think that is a great project to bring pride to the community, and discussions/dialogues between the elderly people and the young people (in the community)," said committee member Lou Erickson.

Linda Sommer added the museum is home to a number of interesting historical pieces and she hopes this latest project will revive peoples' interest in the local past and help them to better appreciate their community.

"We in fact have a hard time deciding which places to put on our trail because there are so many possibilities," she added.

The hope is to have the billboard map up in the local campground, near the museum, by the end of this summer.
