In response to the shootings in Orlando on Sunday, Steinbach Neighbours For Community along with Steinbach Pride will be holding a vigil.

Spokesperson Val Hiebert says, "I was actually in the U.S. when I first saw the coverage, I was at an academic conference. It just leaves you with this horrible feeling in your stomach when you see such tragic loss of life and you realize that this is a particular community that has been targeted. It's tragic and it's wrong on so many levels."

Hiebert says for those in the Southeast who are a part of the LGBTQI community, this is a deeply frightening experience adding it's good for them to know there are people who care and want to, somehow, change the world so these kinds of events don't happen again.

The vigil will be held at K.R. Barkman Park in Steinbach, Tuesday at 8 p.m.
