Two individuals from the Southeast are facing firearm-related charges in Ontario following a traffic stop for stunt driving. 

On October 6th, at approximately 10:15 AM, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team and the Dryden Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the Revell Township for stunt driving. 

There were four individuals in the vehicle including two from the Southeast. A further investigation and search of the vehicle revealed that the occupants were in possession of a loaded firearm.  

As a result of this investigation, 23-year-old Prince Shema from La Broquerie and 19-year-old Idd Abdiyusuf from Edmonton, Alberta have been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:  

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Person 
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition 
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm 
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm 
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 

In addition, 25-year-old Trevor Mulla from Blumenort and 22-year-old Mahad Ibrahinadan from Edmonton, Alberta have been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:  

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Person 
  • Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition 
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm 
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm 
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm  
  • Failure to comply with release order - two counts 

All four of the accused men have been held in custody and are appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on October 10th. Assisting in this investigation are members from the OPP Dryden Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Dryden Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
