The communities of Blumenort and Mitchell will soon grow in size.

Hanover Reeve Stan Toews says the province has approved plans to expand the boundaries of those two Local Urban Districts, effective January 1st. Mitchell will grow to the south and east by 528 acres and Blumenort will grow south by an additional 330 acres.

"The request was made because they were running out of space, so we needed more area for residential development," notes Toews. "So we could get developers in there and expand the communities."

Toews notes for those with land that will soon be located within the LUD boundaries, their taxes might drop slightly.

Hanover would like to also expand the boundaries of its other Local Urban Districts, but must first redo its development plan.
