The communities of Mitchell and Blumenort are one step closer to getting bigger. That, according to Hanover Reeve Stan Toews who says council has given final reading to change the development plan, which is the first step in the process.

Toews notes both of these communities are running out of space to be developed. The goal is to push out the boundaries in order to make room for developers.

Hanover will now need to submit a request to the province to formally extend the limits of each Local Urban District. If approved it will see Mitchell grow largely to the southeast by 528 acres and Blumenort to the south by 330 acres. Most of the new space would be zoned Urban Residential, though there would also be some Commercial.
