A two-vehicle collision at the corner of Highway 12 North and Penfeld Drive in Steinbach knocked down a traffic light Friday morning.

According to the RCMP, a minivan was travelling north on Highway 12 and failed to stop for a red light. A car travelling east from Acres Drive to Penfeld Drive was then hit by the minivan and subsequently hit a traffic light.

RCMP says there was just one occupant in both vehicles and neither needed any medical treatment.

The collision itself took place at 8:15 AM. Traffic along Highway 12 was largely unaffected, however, RCMP officers had blocked off the westbound lane of Penfeld Drive.

As of 9:50 AM, a police vehicle was still at the scene of the collision due to live wires on the ruined traffic light.
