502 forest fires have been recorded this year in Manitoba. Five new forest fires started Tuesday in the eastern region. Fire program manager Tom Mirus says they were all caused by lightning and are now contained. That brings the total to 164 fires this year in the forests of the eastern region. Meantime, council for the RM of Hanover has decided it's still too dry to lift a temporary burning ban. We're told they'll leave it in place until we get more rain.
