A teenage driver from Winnipeg is facing charges after slamming his vehicle into a light post on Steinbach's Main Street this last weekend.

According to Steinbach RCMP, the single vehicle collision happened on Saturday at 7:17 pm at the intersection of Kroeker Avenue.

Police say the 19-year-old driver refused medical attention.

He blew a warning and has been charged with driving without motor vehicle liability insurance, unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a valid driver's license and failing to comply with license restrictions.

Meanwhile, earlier that day, Steinbach RCMP stopped an impaired driver in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne.

Police say this happened at 1:02 pm, along Road 36 North.

A 49-year-old man from the RM of Hanover now faces charges of impaired operation of a vehicle, driving while disqualified and driving without liability insurance.
