Political talk in Steinbach is intensifying with the civic election only 9 days away.
Mayorlty candidate Dwight Reimer is promising more open and accessible government.  He is promising to keep regular hours in the mayor's office, including evenings, plus town hall meetings every 18 months.  Reimer adds he's also not afraid to lose the election noting there are plenty of other places to volunteer his services as he has done in the past.  Meantime, Chris Goertzen is promising to advocate for more senior's assisted housing.  He says the current 3 year waiting list at Fernwood is not acceptable.  Goertzen reiterates he's committed to long term planning and open government.  As for office hours, he says it's not important how many hours he spends at city hall; rather he wants to be accessible wherever he happens to be.
