Curl Manitoba’s Spring Jamboree turned out to be quite an exciting event for both junior curling teams from Steinbach.

Playing for Team Poirier, Aiden Poirier, Jayce Budey, Orrin Friesen and Morgan Lytwyn.

“They completed the round robin play with a remarkable 3-1 record punching their ticket to the finals,” says Gord Oakley, co-coordinator of Steinbach's Junior Curling Program.

Brooklyn Wiebe, Jenny Martin and Ahinoam Ruka ended with a 2-2 record for Team Wiebe.

“Game four was a must-win with a come-from-behind performance stealing two points in the last end to advance to final, setting up the all-Steinbach Gold game,” Oakley explains.

He adds, prior to that final game, there was plenty of confidence on both sides, along with a few jabs and lots of laughs as well as nail-biting for the parents.

“In the end both teams posed, all smiles, for the all-Steinbach photo. Team Wiebe won Gold for their second of the year, and Team Poirier took home a well-deserved Silver.”
