After a tough summer, Steinbach dealerships are feeling more optimistic about inventory this fall.

Kent Ledingham is the President of the Steinbach Auto Dealers Association. He says dealers across the country have been having an incredibly tough time getting stock.

“The shortages have mainly been related to components of vehicles that are needed to build them. Then, on top of that, there have been logistical shortages on the rails and by ocean as well. It’s been a very interesting year, not in a good way.”

Ledingham says these shortages have hit some manufacturers harder than others and at different times, but everyone has been dealing with them. That said, he notes things are looking more positive.

“I would say things are improving, especially from where we were over the summer months. It varies a little bit by manufacturer but generally speaking, I’d say things are improving. There will be up and downs I think in inventory continuing for the next year but I would say things have been improving slightly.”

Ledingham says he is hopeful dealers will be able to go into spring with ample inventory.

The Steinbach Auto Dealers Association includes Ledingham GM, Steinbach Dodge, Fairway Ford, Highway Mazda, and Harvest Honda.
