Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor and defenseman Nate Schmidt cleared COVID protocol and rejoined the hockey team at practice Monday. Connor and Schmidt missed three games. The Jets are six points behind the Vegas Golden Knights who hold down the second wild card spot in the NHL’s Western Conference.

The Swan Valley Stampeders avoided playoff elimination. Trey Sauder and Carter Cockburn scored two goals each as the Stamps doubled up on Dauphin 6-3 I Swan River. That cuts the Kings lead in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s best-of-seven opening round series to three games to one.

Trevor Lewis had three goals and three assists as the Tiger Hills Hockey League champion Boissevain Border Kings beat the North Central Hockey League champion Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks 9-6 in game one of their two-game total-goal series. Game two goes Thursday in Brandon. The winner will meet either the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League champion Warren Mercs or the THHL finalist, the Minnedosa Bombers in a one-game showdown to determine Hockey Manitoba’s Senior “A” champion.

Brad Gushue has a 5-0 record at the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas. Gushue, Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker defeated Joel Retornaz of Italy 10-4. The four-time Canadian champions will face Sixten Totzek of Germany (4 p.m.) in their lone game of the day.

Jason Gunnlaugson, third Adam Casey, second Matt Wozniak and lead Connor Njegovan will go their separate ways at the end of the curling season. Team Gunnlaugson won the DEKALB Super Spiel in Morris in early December; they went 2-6 at the Canadian Curling Trials in Saskatoon and 6-4 at the Brier in Lethbridge. The Morris Curling Club foursome lost to 2021 champion Brendan Botcher in the playoffs at the Brier.
