The Winnipeg Jets released its 82-game schedule for the 2024-25 NHL regular season. The Jets open the season on the road at Rogers Place on Wednesday, October 9th when they face the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers, before returning to Winnipeg for their home opener at Canada Life Centre against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, October 11th. The Jets first meeting with new division rival Utah Hockey Club is on November 5th at Canada Life Centre. Winnipeg will face the 2024 Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida. on November 16th. The longest homestand of the season span is an eight-game set from January 2nd-18th. Winnipeg doesn’t play from February 8th-21st as the hockey club has a two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off which will feature NHL players from Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States. The Jets’ longest road trip spans November and December as they play six straight away games from November 22nd-December 1st. Winnipeg will face their Central Division rivals 26 times this season – four games against Colorado, Dallas, Nashville, St. Louis and Utah; and three games apiece against Chicago and Minnesota. December is the team’s busiest month, with the Jets playing 15 games in total – eight at home and seven on the road. Winnipeg plays nine back-to-backs this season: five are consecutive games as the visiting team, three feature a game at Canada Life Centre and a game on the road, and the Jets will host Los Angeles and Colorado on consecutive nights on January 10th-11th. Tuesdays are the busiest day for Winnipeg with the team playing 17 times.


Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros did not practice with the football team Tuesday. He was on the field but not in uniform. Backups Chris Streveler and Terry Wilson Jr. took the reps with the offense. Collaros was injured late in the first half of the Blue Bombers 22-19 overtime loss to the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium when he took a hit from Calgary defensive tackle Josiah Coatney. Winnipeg head coach Mike O'Shea said Collaros did not play the remainder of the game for precautionary reasons. The 0-4 Blue Bombers host the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Sioux City Explorers were rained out Tuesday night. The Fish & Explorers will play a pair of seven innings games today at Lewis & Clark Park beginning at 5:35 p.m. The opener will see the Goldeyes send right-hander Zac Reininger (3-3, 4.86 ERA) to the mound while lefty Jaren Jackson (0-0, 2.53 ERA) is expected start for Sioux City. Joey Matulovich (5-1, 2.13 ERA) gets the ball for Winnipeg in game two, with southpaw Austin Drury (1-3, 9.85 ERA) starting for the Explorers.


Tajon Buchanan is scheduled to undergo surgery today after breaking his tibia in practice ahead of Canada's Copa America quarterfinal match against Venezuela Friday in Arlington, Texas. The 25-year-old from Brampton, Ontario, has earned 40 caps for Canada and played in all three Copa America group stage matches.
